Hamakichi, the best detective in Edo, was tempted to take illegal cash when his wife and son were mortally ill. That one mistake ruined his life, destroying the family he swore he’d save and sentencing him to 100 lashes and banishment. After five years, Hamakichi returns, a humble street vendor selling handmade pinwheels to Edo’s children.
