In Tatara Village during the time of Oda Nobunaga the hereditary "Murage" is the leader in the art of making steel for the finest swordsmiths in Japan. After numerous raids by marauding clans seeking this highest quality steel, Gosuke gives up his post as Murage and sets out to become a samurai with the intent of protecting his village.
