Tsurumi Genjiro turned away from the samurai life, embittered when his wife betrayed him. Lost in the crowds of Edo, he earns a living writing books. When he defends a lone shogunate agent against the rebel Hachigaku clan, a noble elder begs him to join a bloody war in the streets of the capital. Defending the shogunate, he’ll face the Hachigaku’s dead-liest swords. And Genjiro, along with his new love Tsuru will be targeted by Oyoshi, knife-wielding seductress of the Hachigaku. But politics is a slippery business. A hidden hand manipulates friend and foe. Dark secrets and darker treacheries will soon be revealed.
